Positive, effective, person-centred.
I'm guessing that if you have found your way to this page, you are looking for a therapist to help you deal with a problem or issue you have in your life right now.
My name is Sarah and I am the therapist here at New Leaf Therapy. I am based on the beautiful Isle of Wight, although offer online appointments to anywhere in the UK via Google Meet.
After a 20 year career in the NHS, I chose to train as a cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist. During my career, I worked within hospitals, hospice, community and primary care settings which has given me lots of experience with people in all sorts of life dilemmas. I then went on to teach the new generation of pharmacy technicians, and obtained my award in Adult Education.
I felt I wanted to help on a really practical level, so I chose to retrain to offer this wonderful therapy which blends a cognitive behavioural approach, together with hypnotherapy and mindfulness.
I hold the level 5 Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, which is currently the only evidenced based course available in the UK. I also have extended learning in both Menopause care and Insomnia.
I work exclusively online or via telephone for therapy sessions. This means that you can join the session via mobile, computer or tablet. Clients have told me they prefer this approach as it fits in with their life better, and they can call from where they feel most comfortable.

Hypno-CBT (Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is a powerful and effective approach that combines two well-established therapies to help you feel better, think better, and live better. This is blended with mindfulness to allow you to quieten thoughts in your mind.
Understanding Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy uses relaxation and focused attention to help you reach a state of heightened awareness, allowing you to focus on one guided thought. In this state, your mind becomes more open to positive suggestions and new ways of thinking. It’s a bit like being so absorbed in a good book or a movie that you lose track of time.
Understanding Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT, is a practical and results-oriented therapy that helps you identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. It’s all about understanding the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions, and making small changes to improve your overall well-being.
When you combine these two therapies, you get the best of both worlds. Here’s how it works:
Relaxation and Focus: Hypnotherapy helps you relax deeply and focus your mind, making it easier to explore and change negative thought patterns.
Positive Suggestions: While you’re in this relaxed state, your therapist will introduce positive suggestions to help shift your mindset and encourage healthier behaviours.
Practical Techniques: CBT techniques are then used to reinforce these positive changes in your everyday life. You’ll learn practical skills to manage stress, overcome challenges, and achieve your goals.
Effective: Combines the immediate benefits of relaxation with long-term strategies for change.
Empowering: Teaches you practical tools to take control of your thoughts and feelings. You gain useful skills that can be transferred to other areas of your life/
Holistic: Addresses both the mind and body for comprehensive well-being.
